Scenery
X-Plane's scenery builds on three layers — mesh, orthophotos, and autogen — whose interaction and load order in the scenery_packs.ini determines visual quality. For photorealistic ground textures, static generation with Ortho4XP and real-time streaming with AutoOrtho or XEarthLayer are available — both approaches can be combined. This section explains the scenery system's structure, the available sources, and the tools for both local and streamed orthophotography.
- Structure & Sources — Components, load order, and scenery options
- Orthophotography — Static ortho tiles with Ortho4XP
- Ortho Streaming — AutoOrtho, XEarthLayer, and hybrid setups
- Scenery Plugins — XRoad, AEP, xa-snow, NOAA Weather, LST
- XOrganizer — Scenery manager and scenery_packs.ini editor
