📋 Imprint (Impressum)

Information pursuant to § 5 DDG (German Digital Services Act): the imprint of this blog's operator also applies to these map pages.

Imprint of the blog (also available in German)

Purpose and Content

These maps – the airport map and the ortho tile map – serve informational purposes only. They display technical metadata (airport identifiers, directory names, package sources, runway lengths, scenery file dates, tree types, licence category, ortho tile coverage) extracted automatically from scenery files installed on the operator's own system.

Only airports with a 4-character identifier are shown; besides ICAO codes this includes national or local identifiers such as FAA codes. The maps make no claim to completeness.

📊 Accuracy of the Data

The information shown is extracted directly from X-Plane scenery files. No guarantee is given as to its accuracy or completeness. The maps must not be used for navigation purposes.

Runway Length Calculated estimates

Runway lengths are calculated from the coordinates found in the scenery files. These values may differ from real-world measurements and are truncated down to the next lower 10 ft. They are provided for orientation only and must not be used for flight planning or navigation.

Legacy Availability marker

The “Legacy” marker only means that, at the time of the scan, no current source for the package was known to the operator of this site. It is maintained manually, may be outdated or incomplete, and constitutes no statement about the legal, commercial or economic status of any vendor. Existing installations are unaffected.

🔒 Privacy & External Services

When you open these maps, content is loaded from external services. In doing so your IP address is transmitted to the respective providers. This is technically required for the map display to work.

GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) Legal basis

These services are embedded on the basis of our legitimate interest in a functional map display (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): map tiles and the map library are loaded from the providers listed below because we do not host them ourselves. The alternative tile layers are offered so that you can choose the presentation that suits you; only the layer in use is requested.

Service Provider Purpose Privacy policy
CARTO basemaps
(Voyager, Positron, Dark)
CartoDB Inc., USA Map background tiles – default layer of the airport map, loaded on first paint CARTO Privacy Policy
OpenStreetMap tiles OpenStreetMap Foundation, UK Map background tiles – default layer of the ortho tile map, selectable on the airport map OSMF Privacy Policy
OpenTopoMap tiles OpenTopoMap (S. Erhardt / T. Stark), Germany Selectable topographic map layer OpenTopoMap credits
ArcGIS World Imagery Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (Esri), USA Selectable satellite imagery layer Esri Privacy Statement
unpkg CDN UNPKG (open source project), delivered via Cloudflare, Inc., USA Delivery of the JavaScript libraries (Leaflet, MarkerCluster, MiniMap) Cloudflare Privacy Policy

Opening the airport map always loads the JavaScript libraries from unpkg and the CARTO tiles of the default layer. The other tile providers receive no request until you switch to their layer in the map's layer selector.

Outbound links Only on click

Airport popups offer two search links. Both lead to Google Search – the second one merely restricts the query to the X-Plane.org forums (site:forums.x-plane.org), so the recipient of that request is Google as well. These are ordinary links; no data is transmitted until you click one.

Third-country transfer USA / UK

CartoDB Inc., Esri and Cloudflare, Inc. are based in the USA. Transfers to them take place under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, and otherwise under EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR); a copy of the safeguards can be requested from us via the contact address in the imprint.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation is based in the United Kingdom, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

Data processed by these providers: IP address, time of access, requested resource, user agent, HTTP referrer. We do not merge this data with any other data source.

Our own data collection: beyond the regular server log files of the blog hosting, the site operator does not collect, store or process any personal data through these maps. No cookies are set and no analytics or tracking tools are used. Server log entries are deleted or anonymised as soon as they are no longer required for operational security, as a rule after a few days.

Your rights Controller and data subject rights

The controller for this map within the meaning of Art. 4(7) GDPR is the operator named in the imprint, who can also be contacted there in matters of data protection.

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we process (Art. 15), to have it rectified (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict processing (Art. 18), and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).

Right to object: you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – that is, to the embedding of the external map services described above (Art. 21(1) GDPR).
